  3. The Moto Z Play is by far the cheapest way to get into Motorola's modular ecosystem. Right now, I don't feel the need to do that. The Mods we've seen so far are varying degrees of impractical, and they're hugely expensive. At least with the cheaper Moto Z Play, that second factor isn't as much of a deal breaker. Selling Mods for a $700 phone is just more ridiculous than selling them for a $400 one.

Moto Z Play review: Playmodo - GSMArena

  1. I still don't particularly like the look of Motorola's square fingerprint sensor directly south of the screen, but I certainly do like the functionality. Just a tap on the sensor and it recognizes and unlocks the phone. It's substantially faster than Samsung's sensors, and even a little snappier than Nexus Imprint on the 6P. You can also put the phone to sleep with a long-press of the sensor. Unfortunately, you can't use the sensor as a home button. I kind of can't believe I'm saying that because I usually prefer on-screen buttons. Still, it makes sense when you use the sensor to wake up the phone that it could also be a home button.
  2. JBL Moto Mod increases the volume of your device by adding speakers, which provide stereo sound instead of mono. When the module connects to the smartphone, it vibrates and you can hear an audible alert.
  3. With the Z2 Play, you have the option to choose either 32 or 64 GB of onboard storage, which also dictates the amount of RAM. If you are worried about storage, the good news is that expandable storage via microSD card is available for up to an additional 256 GB.

If your top priority is lasting all day regardless of what you get up, stop looking The battery clearly is the highlight of the device. It is one of the best on the market right now. People looking for a good smartphone should seriously consider the Z Play. With this phone, Lenovo had the good sense not to yield to the temptations of a dainty design. The result is the phone can last two days under heavy use with no problems.

Detailed features and specs for the Motorola Moto Z Play Droid for Verizon. Plus reviews, discussion forum, photos, merchants, and accessories. This cousin of the Moto Z sports a much larger battery and higher-resolution camera, while trimming some specs to be more affordable In many respects it is hard to tell apart from the Moto Z at a glance. It has the same 5.5in AMOLED screen, albeit with a Full HD resolution rather than Quad HD, and the same design on the rear to ensure Moto Mods fit.The Style Shell is listed as a Moto Mod and is worth mentioning here. Like previous Motorola phones it adds an element of customisation with the snap on covers coming in fabric, leather or wood. You could get a few if you like as they're so easy to change and they handily get rid of the camera bump and provide extra grip. The fabric option is £16 (although you get a black one in the box) while the more premium materials come in at £20. The Moto Z3 Play is an actual real thing we've had our hands on! It arrives this summer for $499 with an extra battery pack. The more time I spend with (P.S. This review is based on near-final software. Motorola says a final version of the phone's software will be pushed out before the phone ships to.. With the Moto Mods system, photographers may be tempted by the Hasselblad True Zoom. This costs £199, but brings a 10x optical zoom to the party. The difference this makes is enormous: we’re all used to a phone’s fixed lens and the inherent limitations of digital zoom.

Moto Z Play review: The best 'modular' phone you can get, for

One area the Snapdragon 625 chip does lag behind the 820 found in many other $400 phones today is camera IQ: the shutter isn't quite as instant as the OnePlus 3, and the 4K video capture isn't as smooth. Still, it's an imperceptible difference in most cases, and I'm pretty amazed that the sequel to the maligned Snapdragon 615 produces footage this good.In my case, I find that Samsung has the best displays. However, Lenovo has done a nice job with the Moto Z Play. The brightness looks good – a bit more would have been good though – and the colors are sharp in 'standard' mode. Generally speaking, you'll be pleased with the Moto Z Play display.Moto Mods are some of the most interesting and unique add-ons you can buy for your Moto Z Play. From a projector to a speaker to a battery add-on, there are so many interesting things you can do.

Moto Z Play review: Buy it for the battery life Engadge

  1. The main camera comes with a 16 MP sensor (capable of shooting in 4K), and the selfie snapper comes in at 5 MP. The resolution is better than the Moto Z but the aperture is clearly worse (f / 2.0 vs f / 1.8). It also lacks an optical image stabilizer.
  2. The Moto Z Play does way more right than it does wrong, but it's nestled in a very competitive category of $400 smartphones. This review was written after spending two weeks with the Verizon version of the Moto Z Play Droid on both Verizon's network in the States and Bell's network up in Canada
  3. For a smartphone, the Moto Z Play has good sound quality. Like many smartphones, there's a mono speaker. Of course, the sound quality is not perfect. It is worse than an Alcatel Idol 4, for example. The speaker is not loud but it prevents crackling or problems when you turn it up. I did not notice distortion. It is more than enough to watch videos or listen to podcasts.

Learn about Moto Mods

As much as I like the Moto Z, I'd be tempted to buy a Play and a couple of Mods with that extra money. The phone feels incredibly well made, easily on par with the OnePlus 3 or Honor 8. Buttons are properly calibrated and clicky, and there's even a headphone jack for those who aren't living the future.

The following text will be sent to our editors:

Under normal use, the Z Play is quite satisfactory and it is difficult to note the performance differences with the rest of the Moto Z line. It does everything well, including multitasking. The optimization between software and hardware seems to be good. The pure version of Android certainly helped there. The only time you can see differences with most high-end smartphones is with fairly intensive games.Just remember that for full effect you'll have to use a separate speaker, though you could plug in some headphones. If you want to beam the football or a film onto a wall, it is perfect. The downside, of course, is that it's £249. There is, however, one big upside to this merely average performance: The Moto Z Play's battery life is absolutely killer. Motorola claims that the phone can run for up to 50 hours on a single charge, and I'll be damned if that wasn't my experience over two weeks of testing. Consider my usual workflow: There's a lot of Slack messages and emails flying around, not to mention a spot of gaming and some podcasts here and there. On typical days the Moto Z Play would stick around for about 45 full hours before needing a recharge. What is ID4me? Moto Mods make the Moto Z Play one of the best mid-range phones around By Chris Martin, Reviews Editor | 11 Nov 2016 By default the camera will shoot in 16:9 and 11.9Mp so you'll have to switch it to 4:3 to get the full 16Mp. We're generally impressed with the Moto Z Play camera which offers good quality images for the price point. Video is also nice and sharp but we found some odd errors where the roof of St.Pancras went glitchy which isn't good at all.

The main camera is another place where the Moto Z Play takes a step down from the other Z phones. It's a 16MP sensor with an f/2.0 aperture—the Moto Z and Z Force have f/1.8 apertures, and the Force's camera is 21MP. It also lacks optical image stabilization.Lenovo's modular system works very differently to the LG G5 and its removable chin. While that method has a certain wow factor, it's fiddly and a bit awkward. In stark contrast, the Moto Mods simply snap onto the back of the Moto Z Play with zero hassle using strong magnets to attach.Chris has been reviewing all kinds of tech for nearly 10 years and specialises in audio. And that's really it. As a brief aside, this is the first time I've used an unlocked version of the Moto Z, and I can't stress how much nicer it feels to use without all that carrier-mandated bloatware. Android device manufacturers now realize that cleanliness, while not that close to godliness, is a virtue worth exploring when it comes to interfaces. To date, few phone makers match Motorola in its devotion to pure Android, and I'll keep doling out the kudos as long as the company keeps at it.The vast majority of Android phones die after four or five hours with the screen on. The Z Play (with the brightness set to 80 percent), can get you seven to eight hours of playtime. It's just a nice to use every day. Being near an outlet at all times is difficult. This long battery can change your smartphone usage. You can view all the videos you want or use the GPS in your car without having to worry about recharging. Thank you Lenovo. All right, quick recap: The Moto Z Play has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset, 3GB of RAM and an Adreno 506 GPU ticking away inside it. I can already tell some people's eyes are glazing over because that chipset's model number doesn't start with an "8," but I'm here to tell you the 625 is a capable little slab of silicon. When it comes to thumbing through open apps, swiping through menus and the rest of the day-to-day actions one doesn't pay that much attention to, the Z Play moves like a flagship phone: quickly and with a minimum of fuss. But I also still find Moto’s approach to software refreshing, as well as the performance they seem to get right, even with lesser processors than flagships. The Moto Z Play really embodies what can be good in a $400 phone without any major sacrifices. The Moto Z Play steps down to a Snapdragon 625 and 3GB of RAM. The other Z phones have a Snapdragon 820 and 4GB of RAM. Those are two of the fastest phones I've ever used, and the Moto Z Play is not that. It holds its own, though. Actions like opening apps and going back to the home screen don't have the immediacy of the standard Moto Z, but I would not call this phone slow. The UI is fluid, there's no lag to speak of, and apps remain open in the background as expected. It maintains a completely acceptable performance baseline. Here are a few benchmarks, if you are curious.

The Insta-Share projector mod is one of the most interesting on show here - and in a nutshell it's amazing but too expensive. It's the only mod made by Moto itself, and the most impressive. We were sceptical that it would project the promised 70in screen onto a wall, but we simply clipped it on, connected to a Bluetooth speaker and fired up Planet Earth on Netflix. The first time you use it, it is really amazing. The Moto Z2 Play comes with a 5.5-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080, resulting in a pixel density of 401 ppi. As expected from an AMOLED screen, you get to enjoy vibrant colors and deep blacks, as well as great viewing angles. The Moto Z Play takes the battery capacity of the Moto Z Force and uses it to power less demanding hardware. The result, as you can probably guess, is really, really fantastic battery life. If having a phone that lasts a long time off the charger is your top priority, this is one of the best phones you can get.Normally $50, the Motorola Moto Power Pack Mod (that’s a mouthful) comes with every Moto Z3 Play. It adds a 2,220mAh battery, or about one full waking work day (16 hours), of extra juice to the phone. It’s nice and thin too, adding only 5mm of thickness.

Moto Z2 Play review - Android Authorit

  1. We've had a Moto Z Play since it came out about 2.5 years ago and love it. Recently the charging port became damaged and then the repair place I purchased the Z Play factory unlocked smartphone because I didn't want to have to deal with a carrier phone preloaded with bloatware around early..
  2. The real advantage to Motorola's adherence to what we know as "stock" Android — albeit with a fairly sizeable delay in updates; the Play is on currently on Android 6.0.1 with September 1st security update — is that it generally feels fluid, even months or years after its release. I occasionally bust out my original Moto X from 2013 to see how it's doing, and it works as well as it did the day I got it. You just can't say that about many Android devices after three and a half years.
  3. g performance, which is just okay. Some 3D games seem to get a bit bogged down at times, but they're still playable—I'm talking about a few dropped frames, not the end of the world.
  4. Why does it have such a good battery, you might ask. The answer is simple: a good battery + Android + stock AMOLED Full-HD + uses less CPU + Ambient Display.
  5. The Moto Z3 Play runs Android 8.1 Oreo, with the May 1 security patch from Google. Motorola doesn't have a great track record of issuing timely updates to its smartphones, so while we have confirmed this phone will receive Android P Updated on July 31: We've added a video for the Moto Z3 Play review

Moto Z Play Review

Motorola is going all-in on modular accessories this year, and Verizon is right there with it. The Moto Z Play was announced recently, and it's a Verizon exclusive for a few weeks before it ships unlocked in October. This device works with all the same Moto Mods as the other Moto Z variants, but it's much less spendy at around $400 on Verizon. That's a big advantage when you're pushing Mods that cost as much as $300. Are the trade-offs worth it? Is this finally the phone that makes modular smartphones viable? Let's find out.Whether a phone is waterproof is an increasingly sought after design feature and Lenovo lists the Moto Z Play as 'water resistant' thanks to a nano coating, provided by P2i, but it's not designed to be dunked in water. The phone's familiar design also means the return of certain annoying design quirks, like the fingerprint sensor that looks, but doesn't act, like a home button. (I can't complain about that too much, though, since the sensor actually works very well.) Even stranger, the so-called Moto Mods that magnetically connect to the Z Play's back don't feel quite as seamless as when they're connected to other Moto Z's. That said, most people probably won't know the difference. Posts must be relevant to the Moto Z, Moto Z Force, and Moto Z Play. Spam is not permitted, please report it. Moto Z Play Concern (self.Moto_Z). submitted 21 hours ago by nalsur10 In the new Moto Z2 Play, Motorola has attempted to play this winning hand again. It will go on sale in the UK for £379. It's a quirky device, and The back plate is all metal and the model I reviewed came in a fairly standard grey. On rear of the phone is the modular connector that differentiates the Z2 Play

With the Moto Z Play we've been given the JBL speaker which automatically diverts audio when in place. It adds on a fair bit of weight so it's not one you'll want to keep on all the time, but that's the beauty of the magnetic system and it's not more than carrying a separate Bluetooth speaker. There're no controls as you just use the phone's volume buttons but it does add a handy kickstand. All in all a good value for money Mod if you want louder speakers.I then transitioned to an unlocked Canadian Moto Z Play meant for the local market, which was better tuned for Bell, the network on which it remained for the balance of the testing.

Moto Z3 Play Review: Unlocked and Loaded WIRE

  1. Under the hood, you’ll find Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 626 Mobile Platform, backed by the Adreno 506 GPU and either 3 or 4 GB of RAM. This Verizon version of the device is the 3 GB model, which is what I’ve been using for the past week.
  2. I'm incredibly impressed with the longevity of this phone, and if battery life is a priority it is the best mid-range option on the market right now.
  3. While the difference in resolution is understandable and the screen will be perfectly adequate for the vast majority of users. It's bright and colourful but those with a keener eye will notice the difference with those pixels spread across a larger space than most Full HD handsets. For example, take a close look and the edge of icons appears a bit fuzzy. You do need to look closely though so it's not a big issue and we wouldn't expect anything higher than Full HD at this price.
  4. Another downside is that it has only electronic stabilisation, but this also works when shooting video, which can be shot at up to 4K at 30fps. 1080p records at 30fps too, but you can increase framerate to 120fps by lowering resolution to 720p.
  5. I've tested plenty of faster, all-around better smartphone cameras this year, but the Moto Z Play's is nonetheless remarkable in two ways. First, it's a little more than half the price of those photographically superior phones. More important, the gap between the camera in this mid-range phone and the cameras in the flagship Moto Z's can be surprisingly small. The Moto Z Force's more advanced setup has the clear edge, but under the right conditions it's easy to get similar results out of all three Z phones.
  7. This phone has more in common with the Moto Z Force than the Moto Z in terms of design. It's 7mm thick, just like the Moto Z Force. Meanwhile, the Moto Z is just 5.2mm thick. The Play feels like a "normal" phone, whereas the Moto Z is wafer-thin. You can almost forgive the completely flat back on the thinner phone because it's so light, but I find myself a bit annoyed with the Moto Z Play. The flat design that allows for Moto Mods just isn't very ergonomic. You can attach style covers, but the naked phone isn't the best.

As a result, the Z2 Play isn’t going to provide the two full days of battery life that was possible with the Z Play. However, it can still last at least a day and a half, which is definitely well above average and more than what you typically get with most current generation Android smartphones. Even with heavy usage, it was never a struggle to get a full day of use with this phone, and most of my days ended with 25 to 40% of battery still remaining. The differences don't end there. The Z Play packs a 16-megapixel camera and a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED screen running at 1080p; the regular Z and Z Force both feature Quad HD displays. That dip in screen resolution was inevitable given the Z Play's price, but who cares -- this thing has a headphone jack sitting next to its USB Type-C port. Motorola is still convinced that a single socket for power, audio and everything else is the way of the future, and its bet was vindicated when Apple did the same with the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. So what gives? Motorola's rationale is simple: The design of the Z Play's logic board had room for the port. The mixed message is a little confusing, but hey: No dongles necessary this time. The Moto Z Play isn't trying to take on the latest Samsung Galaxy or Apple iPhone with sheer performance. Instead of packing in features for power users, the Moto Z Play aims to be a capable phone for the majority of consumers with, spoiler alert, monstrous amounts of battery life Análisis del Moto Z Play en vídeo Los módulos también están en el Moto Z Play, y por menos precio En este análisis el protagonista es el Moto Z Play, pero antes de entrar en materia en la review primero debemos saber exactamente qué es lo que hace tan especial a este móvil y, por encima de..

Motorola Moto Z Play review Stuff Tired of your phone dying at 7pm

  1. That's not two workdays, but nearly two full rotations of the earth. Hell, with Wi-Fi on and connected, I saw the Z Play creep just a little past the advertised 50 hours over a quiet weekend. Obviously, those figures would tank if I spent more than a little time playing Hearthstone or bingeing on YouTube videos, but there's a certain sort of liberation to be found when you don't have to constantly fret about your phone living or dying.
  2. Using the Moto Z3 Play isn’t one big party, though. For no logical reason except that every other phone maker is doing it, Motorola decided to cover the back of the Z3 Play in glass, which makes the phone a lot more slippery to hold, less durable, and a huge fingerprint magnet. It's particularly troubling since it’s probably a phone you won’t buy a case for, since even the good cases tend to cover the back—blocking the ability to snap on a Mod. Just sitting in my bag, a few tiny chips came off the blue paint on the edges, and I have a small scratch on the glass up front. Moto went with Gorilla Glass 3, which is less durable than what many high-end phones use.
  3. Moto is sticking to what it knows works. This means an almost-stock Android interface with little tweaks and additions here and there. The Moto Z Play comes pre-loaded with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow and the good news is that an update to 7.0 Nougat is due before the end of the year, according to Droid Life.
  4. Would you like a Mod to go with that Moto? After three iterations of the Moto Z, it’s clear that Motorola still believes in its line of snap-on magnetic phone accessories. And it should. There are a lot of intriguing Mods you can buy, including a photo printer and a fancy Hasselblad-branded camera, and they all work interchangeably with these Z phones.
  5. d the more expensive version has no headphone jack and a smaller battery).

Your comment (optional):

Of course, the camera isn’t going to win any awards, the design might turn some away, and the Verizon exclusivity is a downer. It’s not a perfect phone. At $400, though, I think it certainly should be proudly in the conversation of mid-tier phones. Oh and Moto Mods. Yeah it does those too, if that’s your thing. It'll still be a bit of a speed boost over the Z3 Play if you're a gamer, and the extra rear camera (used for depth effects) packs a few more megapixels. But, the Moto Z3 (non-Play) is also under embargo until later this month, so we haven't had a chance to give it the full review treatment just yet. If you're interested in that phone, rest assured that the Z3 Play is functionally about the same.

However, the camera is on the rear panel and sticks out a bit, which is not aesthetically pleasing. To remedy this, Lenovo offers Moto Style Shells, which are about 2 mm thick. The one that comes in the box provides a textile-like feel but Motorola gives you other options with many materials, textures and fabrics. Customization fanatics can change the style at any time, and quite quickly. The other advantage of this mod is it protects the connectors for mods on the back of the smartphone. In terms of other specs you get a distinctly mid-range set of 11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and NFC.

I then used the phone as a Wi-Fi hotspot for my other devices, and it lasted 13 hours. I taxed it and taxed it, and it wouldn't die, and then I when its battery eventually depleted I charged it quickly using the TurboPower adapter, or I used the Incipio Moto Mod that has become an almost-permanent attachment to this incredible phone. With the inclusion of AMOLED display technology, this budget device has the "premium" version of Moto Display. The panel only uses power for the lit pixels, and it does have the motion sensors that allow you to wave over the phone to wake up Moto Display. This is absent from The Moto G series phones—Moto Display only activates on those phones when you get a notification or pick the phone up. Buy the Moto Z Play from Motorola.com for $449.99

For the Moto Z Play, being a mid-range phone that we wouldn't typically review, we took a different approach to sharing our final thoughts on it. Hey, look, a video review from Droid Life! This should be interesting. If you have watched the DL Show in recent weeks or follow us on Twitter.. Motorola Moto Z Play ist ein handy aus dem 2016 Jahr ist wiegt 165 Gramm und Abmessungen von 156.4 x 76.4 x 7 mm. The new OS also gets out of your way, with fantastic, simple features like swiping up and down on the homescreen to open your apps menu or pull down notifications. Motorola doesn’t spend its energy reinventing the wheel. Unlike the heavily-skinned and modified Google OSes you'll find in competing phones, Motorola just adds a few useful extras and lets Android be Android. I appreciate Moto's motion gestures, which let you do things like quickly rotate the phone to open the camera or make a chopping motion to turn on the flashlight. The fingerprint sensor has been redesigned with the same oval shape that was first introduced earlier this year with the Moto G5 Plus, and it works great at unlocking the phone with reliability and speed. In addition, you can use various gestures on the scanner to move around the user interface instead of the on-screen navigation keys. This is a great way to maximize the display real estate, but there is a bit of a learning curve when it comes to using one button for everything.Shells also hide the rather ugly connector, which is used to communicate with other Moto Mods accessories. It looks better on the black model. These ‘Mods’ are a different approach to the modular smartphone – full details below. Also a bit ugly is the way the legal info is squeezed along the bottom edge, although the back isn't much better.

A benefit of the tech is that it can light up certain pixels to show information without impacting on battery life. The upstarts behind the OnePlus 3 should be proud: They've built a flagship-level device that costs only $399. As such, it's perhaps the best alternate for a device like the Moto Z Play -- it packs an incredibly fast Snapdragon 820 chipset, a superior camera and a barely modified version of Android into a sleek metal body. And if you're on the hunt for even better value, you might want to consider Motorola's Moto G4 Plus. It's not as handsome or as long-lasting as the Z Play, but it costs a full $200 less and provides ample power for people who don't need a full-on flagship. You wouldn't know just by looking at it, but the Moto Z Play sits lower on the performance totem pole than either of the Moto Z's that came before it. There's an octacore Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset inside, an Adreno 506 GPU and 3GB of RAM, all of which last for a very long time when paired with the Z Play's 3,510mAh battery. The weight gain has its advantages. It enables it to bring back the 3.5mm mini-jack (because a mini-jack is apparently now an advantage) and include a bigger 3,510 mAh battery, which performs quite well (more on that later). Motorola Moto Z Play Droid Review: Innovative and Everlastin

It shares some stylings with the cheaper Moto G4 phones but we're impressed with out luxurious the Moto Z Play looks and feels for the price. We took a look at the white option which has pale gold highlights. You should've seen this one coming. Of course Motorola wasn't going to just release two versions of the Moto Z and call it a year. While the first two -- the Moto Z and Moto Z Force -- had to bear the weight of flagship expectations and justify the lack of a headphone jack, the Moto Z Play merely had to be inexpensive and not terrible. Well, mission accomplished ... mostly. At $449, the Z Play isn't the cheapest mid-range phone out there, but it clears the "not terrible" bar with more room than I imagined. Moto X3M is an awesome bike game with 22 challenging levels. Choose a bike, put your helmet on, pass obstacles and get ready to beat the time on tons of Have fun with Moto X3M! The controls are simple: use the keyboard arrow keys to control the acceleration and deceleration, and also your tilt As Phil mentioned in his review, you're getting some gnarly bloatware on the Droid version of this phone, much of which isn't removable. For more on that, you can check the preview I wrote when the phone was first announced, but the upside is this: you can disable most of it. On the Canadian variant, there was no bloatware to speak of, and while that may not be indicative of the retail version, I've never been offended by apps installed by Canadian carriers. They just tend to respect their customers more in that regard.

It can also be purchased from local retailers. By the way, a Motorola X Play.. The best thing about having that extra battery pack is that you don’t usually need it. I kept mine tucked away in my laptop bag most of the time. On a typical day, the Moto Z3 had about 25-35 percent charge around bedtime. That’s about in line with other Android phones this year. Oddly enough, the BlackBerry Key2 is one of the only phones that’s consistently performed a lot better, but without a snap-on battery. While we've seen a distinct lack of new accessories (or 'Friends') for the LG G5, Lenovo has said the Moto Mods system will be supported for at least three years. That should mean new accessories at least and any Mods you have will work with future phones if you upgrade.

The Moto Z Play and the Insta Share Projector are almost impossible to hold when connected. However, it can be used without interruption, and the accessory has a built-in fan for cooling, just like in a PC.So yes, your poorly lit bar photos won't turn out great. Even so, the Z Play doesn't completely drop the ball, and -- perhaps more important -- it's capable of producing some really attractive shots when the lights come back up. Colors seem accurately represented (though you might sometimes see whites turn a little blue), and there was often plenty of detail to gawk at. The very act of snapping photos is quick too, with basically zero lag before taking a new shot.On the bottom is a definite improvement over the other Moto Z phones; a headphone jack. Thank goodness, because it was profoundly annoying to not have one while using the Moto Z. I'm not sure why the Moto Z Force, which is the same thickness, didn't have a headphone jack. And in case you were wondering, you cannot use the Type-C adapter from that phone with the Moto Z Play to get two audio outputs.

This isn't my first time taking the Moto Z Play for a spin, but this version is different. It's a fully unlocked GSM model, ready for action on AT&T and T-Mobile in the United States. If you're a Verizon customer and don't see yourself switching anytime soon, there's also a version of the phone just for you -- it's physically identical but packs all of Big Red's usual bloatware. Motorola Moto Z2 Play Review PCMa

You probably don't need me to tell you this, but you can get a lot of phone for not much money. The Moto Z Play is a remarkably polished package for $449, but don't forget to check out these other options too.Except for the Nexus line, I don't think any company interprets Google's original vision for Android better than Motorola. So then Moto Z Play debuts in late August, with an early September release date, and the reaction is... muted. I was a bit stunned, to be honest — I thought the prospect of taking a Moto Z, giving it some extra battery and muddling the spec sheet just enough to bring down the cost by close to half would be enough to make people stand up and notice it. Alas.

A handful of new Moto Mods were released alongside the Moto Z2 Play, and they all fit and work perfectly with this new device, as well as with the Moto Z Play, Moto Z, and Moto Z Force. In fact, Motorola is guaranteeing Moto Mod compatibility for up to three years, so you don’t have to worry about older Mods becoming unusable with every new iteration of the phone.I'm pleased to report that there isn't a whole lot to say about the Moto Z Play's software. Yes, that's a good thing: It's fast, familiar and free of the bloatware that comes loaded on the Verizon-branded Z Play. If you've used a modern Motorola device, you could probably just leave it at that and move on. If not, well, here's a little more. You might be searching for the Motorola Moto Z Play but now owned by Lenovo, the firm is just using the Moto name for the latest phones. While holding the Moto Z2 Play, you can quickly turn your wrist as if you are turning a doorknob, and the camera opens ready to take a shot. Each of the Moto Mods I was sent for this review served its purpose and felt like it actually added functionality to the phone Relatively new to the mix is a one-handed mode that's invoked by swiping up from the bottom of the display. Motorola's implementation isn't perfect -- you can't resize or move the shrunken window -- but it's really useful if the 5.5-inch screen is a little too big to use with one hand. Perhaps the biggest issue with the feature is that it can be too easy to activate accidentally, which probably explains why it's not on by default: You'll have to dive into the included Moto app to enable it. Then there are Motorola's voice commands, which have steadily gotten more precise since they debuted on the original Moto X three years ago. They're nice enough to have and work as well as they always did -- just don't expect the same sort of conversational fluidity you'd get from something like the new Google Assistant.

Like the Moto Z, the Play has a USB-C port to charge with — a TurboPower adapter is in the box, because you're not an animal — and there's a squarish fingerprint sensor on the front, just below the 1080p AMOLED screen. It's not my favorite implementation of the feature; in fact compared to Apple, Samsung, Huawei, Google, Honor, LG, Sony -- practically any other OEM -- I think it's pretty horrid. Why? Because it's small, and very close to the virtual home button. That said, it does the job.Around the front is a 5Mp camera with a ‘wide-angle’ 85 degree lens that has an f/2.2 aperture. Selfie fans will also appreciate the Moto Z Play's front facing flash so you needn't stop shooting once it's dark.

Moto Z2 Play Review: A lot of phone for £379

When the Moto Z debuted earlier this summer, first as a Verizon exclusive and subsequently as an unlocked model available for AT&T and T-Mobile customers, the market didn't know what to think. Here's this phone, thin, light, well-made, with up-to-date specs and a whole lot of innovation thrown in there — and an ecosystem of modular components that can attach to the back to augment the core functionality. To me, it was one of the more exciting announcements of the year, and I still think the phone is an overlooked gem, albeit one with a few critical flaws for the price. Wideorecenzja Moto Z2 Play.

Hi My Name is Nesh Patel. I have passion in cinematography, And I use it to create engaging youtube videos for My youtube channel Game of Roms. I make Phone Reviews, Tips & Tricks and Android Rom Videos The phone also has a pretty great selfie camera, along with a front-facing flash for those times you need to be well-lit indoors. The only real knock I'd give against the camera is that it defaults to a 16:9 aspect ratio, which lowers the overall resolution to 11.9 megapixels in exchange for a fuller viewfinder. Motorola makes so many smart decisions elsewhere in its software; I wish it would wise up to this one, too.Elsewhere, the various gestures embedded as Moto Actions — double-twist to open the camera; double-chop to turn on a flashlight — are just as useful as ever, but no longer unique, as they're much more easily to recreate than Moto Display.

The Moto Z Play slots in below the Moto Z Force and Moto Z in Lenovo's current smartphone line-up and, like its sister models, is compatible with the Moto Mod range of detachable accessory modules, including the Hasselblad True Zoom camera module. With a 16MP CMOS sensor, F2.0 aperture.. The Moto Z2 Play is the latest such Motorola phone to support these mods. I've been using it for the past few days, and I really like where Motorola's Finally, there's a Moto GamePad that will launch this summer. I saw it but didn't have it available for review. It adds controls to the phone so that you can.. Thankfully, we have options. First, you can plug in a pair of headphones –- once more, without a dongle! -– and bypass that speaker entirely. Motorola, meanwhile, would much prefer you use that sweet, sweet Moto Mod connector around the back to magnetically lash a completely new set of speakers onto the phone. JBL's $79 external speaker is the most useful of the multimedia mods available, and while it still focuses on mids and highs, there's enough heaviness and clarity to its sound that most people I've shown it to have enjoyed the experience. You certainly don't need Moto Mods to use the Z Play, but they are handy. Motorola Moto Z3 Play 64GB im Test. Modulares Smartphone mit einer extra Portion Power. 25.09.2018 12:40 | von Viviane Osswald. Fazit vom 25.09.2018. It's the original smartwatch. Being able quickly check notifications by bringing a hand close to the screen or picking up the phone is incredibly useful.

Remember: The Moto Z Play is modular (as evidenced by the multi-pin connector on its back), so you could strap on a magnetic battery mod for even more battery life. If only Motorola were as generous with the storage options: There's 32GB of room on board, and only 24GB is available to you from the get-go. At least the micro-SIM tray has a spot for a microSD card with support for up to 2TB of additional space. Moto MODS. According to Motorola reps, only 40 percent of Moto Z owners are buying them—but the ones that do tend to come back for more. To try and up those middling Mod sales, the phone maker is going to give everyone a taste. The new unlocked Moto Z3 Play comes with a Mod in the box, and it's exactly the Mod you'll want.

The thickness of the Moto Z Play not only means a headphone jack but a larger battery, too. All of this means it's heavier at 165g.The Moto Play Z is priced around $500 for the 32 GB internal storage (expandable with microSD) version. The release  began in September. Mods are also available for sale in the US, like the JBL speaker or Hasselblad camera. Review: Moto Z3 Play. Using the Moto Z3 Play isn't one big party, though. For no logical reason except that every other phone maker is doing it, Motorola decided to cover the back of the Z3 Play in glass, which makes the phone a lot more slippery to hold, less durable, and a huge fingerprint magnet When comparing the phone to the OnePlus 3 or ZTE Axon 7, the Play's Snapdragon 625 processor is likely to be compared negatively to their Snapdragon 820, but don't let the numbers fool you: unless your intention is to spend your days playing graphics-intensive games, you won't likely notice a difference. Qualcomm hit a home run with this chip, the successor to the ubiquitous Snapdragon 615 from a couple of years ago, except that this one is actually good. The Moto Z3 Play's stunning cyan exterior and ecosystem of mods dress up average performance, battery life and photography. Moto Z3 Play Review: Modular Design, Midrange Price

Hasselblad is one of the most famous companies specializing in photographic equipment. It took images of the first man on the moon as well as the cover of the Beatles album Abbey Road. The Moto Z Play is the smaller brother of the Moto Z which is the flagship Moto product of 2016. However, there seems to be quite a lot of similarities But the most important thing to take away from the entire review is the fact that even without any Mods, the Moto Z Play is a complete package that.. The Moto Z Play is a less expensive version of the existing Moto Z devices, but the difference in fit and finish isn't as dramatic as I would have expected. The edge of the phone is aluminum like the more expensive Moto Z phones. However, the back is glass instead of metal. It gets even more covered in fingerprints than the already weirdly fingeprint-y metal Z phones. It has the exact same flat back design for accommodating the Moto Mods too. The connector for the Mods sticks out a bit; it's a plastic island toward the bottom of the back. There’s a lot to like about the Moto Z3. It has roughly the same overall dimensions as its predecessors, yet the HD AMOLED screen is longer, stretching to 6 inches. It’s also faster, with a Snapdragon 636 processor, 64GB of onboard storage, and 4GB of RAM (1 more than before). The extra built-in far-field microphones make talking to Alexa or Google Assistant easier, and the MicroSD slot ensures you won’t run out of space. The Moto Z Play runs Android 6.0.1. Nougat is a thing now, but it'll be at least a few months before Verizon certifies Motorola's Android 7.0 build. The Moto Z and Moto Z Force will probably be the top priority, but the Z Play will get there.

Moto Z2 Play review: Moto Mods. New: JBL SoundBoost 2 speaker with kickstand, available at launch ($80/£TBC). It doesn't disappoint. Moto Z2 Play review: Cameras. 12MP Dual Autofocus Pixel Camera. Sensor-based autofocus pixels (more than 3 million) The Moto Z Play's main camera is a mixed bag, but not for the reasons you'd expect. In terms of pure resolution, the 16-megapixel sensor here sits somewhere between the Moto Z's 13-megapixel camera and the Z Force's much better 21-megapixel shooter. Not bad, right? Well, hold on: The Z Play camera works with an f/2.0 aperture, as compared with the f/1.8 apertures used by both of its predecessors. In other words, the Z Play is technically capable of capturing a little more photographic nuance than the bog-standard Moto Z, but lags behind it when it comes to low-light performance. The Z Play's camera also lacks optical image stabilization, making it slightly more susceptible to blurry edges and obscured faces, especially when it's dark.If you have watched the DL Show in recent weeks or follow us on Twitter, you probably know that I’ve actually become quite a big fan of this phone. It might be the legitimate 2-day battery life that has me brainwashed. Seriously, I have never in all my years reviewing phones, seen one that can last this long on a single charge. You get battery estimates from companies as they announce new phones, yet none ever live up to those numbers. This phone does and I am incredibly impressed. The cameras have also improved—ever so slightly. Motorola has had the weakest cameras of a major U.S. phone brand for years. Even the Moto G6, which is a great value for its price, had a painfully laggy camera app that couldn’t handle dim lighting. The 12-megapixel rear camera and 8-megapixel selfie cam on the Z3 Play still take a hot second to spin up, but can take some lovely photos. I took a tour around Boston, and liked a lot of the shots, including most macros, though it did seem to have trouble focusing on close-up flower petals.
